- Deliver safe, repeatable changeovers on large stamping presses to meet customer specifications.
- Reduce setup times, increase first-pass yield, and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
- Mentor junior operators to build a stronger, more versatile team.
- Advance continuous improvement across safety, quality, and throughput.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, routings, and instructions.
- Perform expert setups and operation of large presses for high-quality stamped parts.
- Install and adjust complex tooling: draws, forms, and progressive dies.
- Stage all materials and tooling to eliminate delays.
- Use dispatch displays to set priorities and plan upcoming setups.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis on die/press issues; coordinate with toolroom and maintenance for corrective action.
- Recommend process changes that elevate efficiency, dimensional accuracy, and safety.
- Verify parts using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures; document results.
- Identify and label raw materials and finished goods accurately.
- Perform routine mechanical maintenance; maintain a 5S work area.
- Train Level I and II Set-Up Operators; capture and refine work instructions for consistent runs.
- Enter all production and quality data into the company’s data collection system.
- Follow safety procedures and compliance guidelines; perform other duties as assigned.
- Expert knowledge of press setups and tooling.
- Proven ability to read complex prints and hold tight tolerances.
- Detail-focused with strong inspection and quality mindset.
- Independent problem solver for press and tooling challenges.
- Effective time management and communication across production, maintenance, and tooling.
- Mentorship orientation; safety- and improvement-driven.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3+ years in metal fabrication or related field.
- Visual acuity: close, distance, peripheral; depth perception; focus adjustment; ability to hear.
- Frequent standing, walking, and movement through the shift.
- Frequent hand use for handling, reaching, and operating equipment.
- Sustained focus for repetitive tasks across long shifts.
- Lift 25 lbs regularly; 50 lbs occasionally.
