Salary Range: $42,000 – $55,000 / year (Commensurate with experience)
Position Summary
Aspire Health is seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing practice. In this vital role, you will support both clinical and administrative operations to deliver exceptional patient care and ensure smooth clinic flow.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at multitasking, and combines strong clinical capabilities (such as phlebotomy and EMR management) with outstanding patient service.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Support
- Patient Intake: Room patients, collect medical histories, and accurately record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature).
- Provider Support: Prepare examination rooms, maintain cleanliness, organize supplies, and assist providers during examinations and clinical procedures.
- Lab & Specimen Handling: Perform phlebotomy (blood draws) and collect/process laboratory specimens following proper safety protocols.
- Medication & Refills: Administer injections or medications (within scope of practice) and manage prescription refill requests per provider protocols.
- Patient Communication: Communicate lab/diagnostic results as directed, answer patient portal messages, and provide clear patient education on treatment plans and medication instructions.
Front Office & Practice Operations
- Patient Flow: Check patients in/out, verify demographics and insurance coverage, collect outstanding balances, and schedule follow-up appointments.
- Administrative Coordination: Handle incoming phone calls, manage referrals, coordinate prior authorizations, and assist with chart preparation before visits.
- Inventory: Monitor and maintain clinical and office supply inventories.
- Commute – must be willing to be in Mooresville, NC 3 days a week and Concord, NC 2 days a week.
Documentation & Coding
- EMR/EHR Management: Enter precise clinical documentation into electronic health record systems in a timely manner to support billing efficiency, preferably someone with OptiMantra experience, but not necessary.
- Coding Knowledge: Utilize basic familiarity with ICD coding and medical documentation standards to ensure accuracy.
- Compliance: Strictly maintain HIPAA compliance, safety guidelines, and patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA).
- Active CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Proven experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Strong proficiency in phlebotomy (venipuncture) and vital signs measurement, preferably familiar with LabCorp and their workflow.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- 2+ years of experience in primary care, wellness, urgent care, dermatology, or outpatient clinic settings.
- Experience processing medication refills, handling prior authorizations, and managing ICD coding.
- Experience working independently within a small, dynamic practice.
Benefits & Compensation
- Competitive Salary: $42,000 – $55,000 annually (based on experience).
- Retirement: Simple IRA with up to a 3% company match (eligible after 1 year of employment).
- Schedule: Consistent full-time hours, Monday through Friday.
