GenCon Restoration is hiring an experienced Restoration Project Manager to take ownership of residential and commercial reconstruction projects from initial handoff through final completion and payment.
This position will primarily manage reconstruction following water, fire, and other property losses, with occasional involvement in mitigation projects when needed.
We are not looking for someone who simply checks on jobs or passes problems to someone else. We need a project manager who can control schedules, subcontractors, customers, documentation, job costs, and project quality without constant supervision.
The right person is organized, direct, accountable, and comfortable making decisions in a fast-moving restoration environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage reconstruction projects from approved scope through final completion
- Review estimates, scopes of work, contracts, selections, and job files before production begins
- Develop and maintain accurate project schedules
- Coordinate subcontractors, employees, vendors, inspections, materials, and deliveries
- Maintain consistent communication with homeowners, property managers, adjusters, and internal staff
- Identify scope discrepancies, missed items, supplements, and change-order opportunities
- Document job progress, delays, customer decisions, additional work, and material selections
- Monitor labor, material, and subcontractor costs to protect project margins
- Hold subcontractors accountable for workmanship, cleanliness, scheduling, and completion dates
- Conduct jobsite inspections and address problems before they become customer complaints
- Manage punch-list completion and obtain customer sign-off
- Keep project information, notes, photos, and documentation current in the company’s job-management system
- Assist with water or fire mitigation projects when operational needs require it
- Help resolve customer concerns professionally without giving away unnecessary work or compromising company standards

Required Qualifications
- Proven project-management experience in restoration, insurance reconstruction, residential construction, or a closely related field
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and common residential repair methods
- Ability to manage multiple active projects at the same time
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and holding them accountable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and understand estimates, scopes, floor plans, and construction documents
- Comfortable using project-management software, email, mobile applications, and photo-documentation systems
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Professional appearance and the ability to communicate confidently with customers and insurance professionals
- Able to pass applicable background and driving-record requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Restoration or insurance-repair experience
- Working knowledge of Xactimate
- Experience with supplements, change orders, and insurance-estimate review
- Knowledge of water mitigation, structural drying, fire restoration, and contents-related work
- IICRC certifications or relevant construction credentials
- Experience managing projects to specific gross-profit targets
What This Position Is Not
This is not an entry-level construction position.
It is also not a position for someone who needs every task assigned to them, avoids difficult customer conversations, fails to document projects, or waits until deadlines are missed before communicating a problem.
