Job Summary
Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw cut a variety of structural materials. This position
works in a non-climate-controlled environment and may be exposed to hot and cold
temperatures depending on weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using
- tape measures, micrometers, calipers, templates, or rulers.
- Test and adjust machine speeds or actions, according to product specifications,
- using gauges and hand tools.
- Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as
- materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.
- Load materials into machines
- Clean and lubricate machines.
- Mark identifying data on workpieces.
- Clean work area.
Requirements
- Occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to climb or balance and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly required to stand and walk.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10, 25, 50, and up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral
- vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The employee may occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and potential
electrical shock hazards, requiring adherence to all safety protocols. The employee is
frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and regularly works near moving
mechanical parts.
Qualifications
- MUST HAVE OWN RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must have prior experience working in manufacturing
- Must be able to read a measuring tape (test will be given)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery
- Able to lift up to 50 lb frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 35 lb
