Environmental Quality Resources is looking for a Field Technician in our Gambrills area to perform the physical and operational tasks required to successfully complete assigned projects in the field. This role supports the Layout Foreperson, Operators, Engineers, Superintendent, and EQR support personnel by assisting with project execution, equipment operation, site readiness, and crew support. The position requires a strong commitment to safety, productivity, teamwork, and maintaining high standards of quality while working in outdoor environments and remote project sites.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform the physical tasks required to complete assigned projects safely and efficiently.
- Learn and perform all tasks necessary to complete projects at a high level of competence.
- Establish and demonstrate the skills required to support the Layout Foreperson, assigned Operators, Engineers, Superintendent, and EQR support personnel.
- Report directly to the Layout Foreperson, Foreperson, Superintendent, or next level of management.
- Indirectly report to the Operations Manager for job assignments, time-off requests, and HR-related matters.
- Indirectly report to the Vice President of Operations.
- Maintain ethical sensitivity, personal integrity, and a strong focus on ecological uplift.
- Achieve high field production rates through self-motivation, accountability, and teamwork.
Responsibilities / Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (non-provisional) and reliable transportation to remote job sites.
- Ability to safely operate large on-road vehicles with trailers.
- Meet DOT physical requirements.
- Successfully pass EQR’s driving test.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Ability to operate equipment including, but not limited to, track trucks, skid steers, and mini excavators.
- Complete equipment checklists or ensure that crew checklists are completed accurately.
- Demonstrate the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to learn and operate layout equipment.
- Read, understand, and implement project documents, including both internal and external documentation.
- Ability to learn how to lead a crew in completing assigned tasks.
- Communicate HR-related information to the Layout Foreperson, Operations Manager, and crew members in an appropriate and timely manner.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting while traveling to job sites: 5%
- Standing, walking, lifting materials, and operating equipment: 95%
- Requires manual dexterity of the hands, frequent bending, twisting, and heavy lifting
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds
- Requires working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions
- Requires the use of sight, hearing, and verbal communication for safety and job performance
