We are a busy and highly reputable specialty medical practice located in Grand Traverse County, dedicated to providing exceptional patient care in a professional, team-oriented environment. Our practice specializes in foot and ankle care and is supported by a close-knit team.
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team as a Patient Care Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical assisting, patient care coordination, clinical support, and medical office operations. This role is designed for a healthcare professional who enjoys working directly with patients, coordinating surgical care, managing medical documentation, and supporting a fast-paced specialty practice. Experience with eClinicalWorks or another electronic medical record (EMR) system is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care coordination support from appointment checkout through surgical scheduling and follow-up
- Coordinate surgical scheduling between patients, surgery centers, medical departments, and healthcare providers
- Communicate directly with patients regarding upcoming procedures, scheduling details, documentation requirements, and next steps in their care
- Manage and update patient information within eClinicalWorks or other electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Coordinate orthotic ordering and assist with related patient care needs
- Prepare medical documentation including work notes, school notes, disability paperwork, and other required forms
- Support physician, nurses, medical assistants, and office staff with clinical and administrative tasks
- Assist with daily specialty clinic operations while maintaining a high level of professionalism and patient service
- Provide compassionate, organized, and efficient patient care coordination throughout the patient experience
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, specialty clinic, or surgical environment strongly preferred
- Experience with eClinicalWorks or similar electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
- Strong understanding of medical documentation, patient records, and healthcare administrative processes
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and compassionate approach
- Reliable, dependable, and team-oriented mindset
- Willingness to support multiple areas of a small specialty practice when needed
