Responsibilities
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage medical documentation and records accurately within EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Support patients by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and assisting with patient comfort throughout treatment.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team to ensure efficient patient flow using four-handed dentistry techniques and effective communication skills.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry practices.
- Proficiency in dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and infection control protocols.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Curve for medical documentation and records management.
- Ability to operate dental X-ray machines safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
- Knowledge of dental terminology related to pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and anatomy.
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to support both pediatric patients and adult clients effectively.
- Certification in radiography or X-ray technology is preferred; additional certifications in medical coding or healthcare infection control are advantageous.
