Schedule/Hours: Monday - Saturday / 29hours weekly.
This position is responsible for: Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs routine grounds keeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work.
Building Maintenance Worker Duties:
Performs routine building maintenance activities; performs minor pluming repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.
Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.
Maintains the grounds to include mowing grass, trimming hedges, blowing leaves, and collecting debris; maintains the beautification of the grounds.
Sweeps, vacuums, strips, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks.
Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
Monitors activities and visitors of building and grounds to ensure security.
Drives truck in order to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.
Cleans surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected and surroundings are left neat and clean.
Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed.
Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.
Assists customers by explaining store policy and responding to questions regarding the pricing and/or purchasing of items; ensures that all customers visiting the store have a pleasant experience.
Assists customers who are donating items to The Salvation Army; directs customers to the proper loading/unloading area; may assist with hauling donations to the storage area; prepares and provides tax receipts as needed.
Places and arranges items in the store as directed; checks all store displays to ensure that items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner; rotates and/or rearranges stock as directed; returns items to the proper location after customer's have handled.
Answers the store telephone in a tactful and courteous manner; assists customers by responding to questions and providing directions and/or general information; may schedule and record donation pick-ups.
leans all display racks and shelves; sweeps and mops floors; cleans windows and mirrors; ensures that the store is maintained in a clean and inviting manner
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to perform heavy lifting.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
Physical ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D. And two years’ experience performing maintenance work in a general maintenance environment or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
