Fort Greene Council, Inc. (FGC) is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization established in Brooklyn, New York, in 1973 and incorporated in 1974. The Council strives to provide services at several life cycle stages, beginning with our early childhood programs and continuing with programs for our older adults
FGC operates fourteen (16) dynamic and invigorating Older Adult Clubs in seven Brooklyn community districts and one (1) educationally advanced child education center, Young Minds UPK-4.
Join Fort Greene Council Inc as a Floater Custodian and help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our older adults and children.
As a (Floater)Custodian, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our (16) older adult clubs and Young Minds Daycare. You will be responsible for upholding high standards of cleanliness in offices and common areas, and you will also assist with event setups, minor maintenance tasks, and inspections. Your efforts will directly help foster a healthy and safe environment for our older adults and children.
Compensation: $23.81 an hour
Responsibilities:
Maintain the cleanliness of the center.
Set up and break down furniture and/or equipment for activities.
Conduct routine inspections and report maintenance needs.
Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment for proper facility upkeep.
Removes litter and waste from the daycare and handles recycling materials.
Strip, wax, and buff floors.
Clean the grease trap.
Performs some repairs and maintenance of buildings by patching walls and doors, painting walls and trim, and replacing light fixtures and partitions; replacing damaged ceiling and floor tiles, and making repairs.
Operate a fire panel system and acquire all required certifications and/or licenses- F-07 and S-95.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalency.
Two years of experience as a Custodian, Maintenance, or Housekeeping in a commercial setting.
Must undergo a background check.
Must demonstrate attention to detail, follow directions, and demonstrate effective organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
Must be in good health. Ability to stand long hours and lift a variety of heavy objects and or equipment.
Must read, write, and speak English.
Must demonstrate good communication and organizational skills.
Must have experience in basic measurements for mixing materials for cleaning, and arithmetic computations.
Must be a team player.
