Join our vibrant early childhood education team as an Assistant PreK Teacher, where your enthusiasm and dedication will help shape the foundational years of young learners. In this role, you and another assistant teacher will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing, engaging, and educational environment for preschool children.
NLC is seeking a positive, educated and engaging assistant teacher to join our PreK classroom. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in early childhood education and understand the importance of positive guidance and encouragement in a school setting. They will assist the lead teacher in delivering engaging lessons, creating and following lesson plans, supporting with administrative tasks, and interacting with students with a cheerful demeanor. Qualifications needed to be effective in this role include knowledge of child development, best practices, and preschool education methods, as well as the ability to engage young children.

Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math, and early childhood curriculum standards
- Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and behavior management strategies tailored to preschoolers
- Engage children in activities that promote social-emotional development, fine and gross motor skills, and early childhood education principles
- Help prepare classroom materials and set up learning stations aligned with curriculum development goals
- Work closely with children with diverse needs, including those with autism or disabilities, ensuring inclusive classroom practices
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members to support individual needs and developmental progress
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, or private school settings is preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development theories such as Montessori or other early childhood education approaches
- Familiarity with special education strategies and working with individuals with autism or disabilities is a plus
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families
- Ability to plan engaging lessons focused on literacy education, math concepts, and overall curriculum development
- Certification or coursework in early childhood education or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory
- Must be at least 18 years old with a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children ages birth to 5
- An interest in pursuing a career in education is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and coworkers.
- Must pass all required background checks and meet state licensing requirements.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).

Pay: $13.00 - $17.00 per hour
