Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, service-minded Building & Grounds Caretaker to keep our church campus clean, safe, and event-ready. This hands-on role blends routine custodial work with light maintenance, grounds care, and event support — making you an essential part of our community. The right candidate takes pride in their work, stays organized under changing priorities, and finds meaning in creating a welcoming space for others.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize all areas — sanctuary, offices, restrooms, classrooms, and common spaces — to a consistently high standard
- Set up and break down furniture, chairs, tables, and AV equipment for services, meetings, and special events
- Inspect the premises regularly; identify and report maintenance needs or safety hazards promptly
- Maintain grounds: sweep walkways, remove debris, perform light landscaping (trimming, seasonal upkeep)
- Monitor access points during events and services to support building security
- Track and restock cleaning supplies, tools, and maintenance materials
- Perform minor repairs; coordinate with vendors for larger projects
Requirements
- Prior custodial or facilities experience preferred; on-the-job training provided for the right candidate
- Physical capability: lifting, climbing ladders, bending, and sustained standing
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to cleanliness and safety
- Self-directed and organized — able to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
- Dependable, punctual, and collaborative in spirit
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling (helpful, not required)
- Flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends for special events
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $20–$30 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Hours: 14–30 hours/week with a flexible schedule
Pay: $24.34 - $29.31 per hour
