Potomac Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced veterinary technician. We are a busy, 3 doctor, small animal (dogs and cats only), AAHA accredited facility. Open Monday - Saturday daytime only, offering pay based upon experience, health care, vacation and 401K options.
A veterinary technician is responsible for assisting the doctors, laboratory procedures, radiology, medical procedures, pharmacy, operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment, inventory, daily treatment of hospitalized patients, placing IV catheters, blood collection, lab procedures, anesthetic monitoring, assisting in the operating room etc.
Summary
As an Experienced Veterinary Technician, you will be integral to providing high-quality care for animals in a veterinary setting. Reporting to the lead veterinarian, you will utilize your core skills in animal handling, veterinary terminology, and catheterization to assist in various procedures and ensure the well-being of pets. Your experience in veterinary critical care and laboratory work will enhance our team's capabilities. With a strong foundation in animal physiology and anatomy, you will contribute to a compassionate and efficient environment dedicated to pet health and client education.
Qualifications
- Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and animal physiology.
- Proficient in animal handling, restraint, and catheterization techniques.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and pet care practices.
- Familiarity with kennel operations and dental terminology is a plus.
- Experience in veterinary critical care and laboratory procedures is highly desirable.
- Additional skills in dog training, grooming, and X-Ray handling are advantageous.
