Overview
We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and multitasking professional to join our healthcare team as a Medical Assistant. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality clinical care, directly supporting the physician as an in-room scribe, and learning our front-desk workflows.
We work closely together as a team to support our doctor, so the ideal candidate is highly organized, communicative, willing to cross-train across various clinical and administrative roles, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience as a scribe is not required, as training on how to assist the doctor as an in-room scribe will be provided. For this position, we recommend you learn the front desk duties as part of our collaborative team approach. Work Schedule & Locations
This position requires traveling between our two clinic locations on a fixed weekly schedule:
- Cave Springs Clinic: Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00am – 5:00pm
- Springdale Clinic: Mondays and Wednesdays 7:00am – 5:00pm | Fridays 8:00am – 12:00pm
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Scribing Duties (On the Job Training provided)
- In-Room Scribing: Accompany the physician into patient exam rooms to accurately document clinical encounters, medical histories, physical exams, and treatment plans in real time within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system (prior scribing experience is not required; on-the-job training is provided).
- Injections & Clinical Tasks: Administer medications and give injections/shots exactly as directed by the physician, including precise dosage calculations.
- Perform standard clinical tasks under the direction of the physician, including taking vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse).
- Conduct initial patient intake interviews and accurately record medical histories.
- Assist the physician with minor medical procedures and basic life support techniques if necessary.
- Ensure patient comfort and deliver exceptional, empathetic patient care throughout their visit.
Hybrid Front Desk Duties (Recommended Cross-Training)
- Front Office Learning: Willingness to cross-train and assist with reception duties to support the overall team workflow.
- Greet and check in patients warmly, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
- Answer phone calls, handle inquiries, and manage appointment scheduling.
- Verify patient insurance information and collect necessary demographics and copays.
- Maintain, update, and organize electronic medical records with a high degree of accuracy.
- Assist with medical billing, coding processes, and insurance claims processing.
- Coordinate patient referrals to specialists as required.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience as a Medical Assistant (prior experience as a medical scribe is not required).
- Cross-Training: Strong willingness and openness to cross-train across both clinical tasks and front office workflows.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems; familiarity with medical office billing/scheduling software (such as AdvancedMD or similar) is highly preferred.
- Medical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and medication/injection administration.
- Core Competencies: Excellent active listening, communication, and documentation skills (crucial for scribing).
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with basic life support (BLS) techniques.
