Responsibilities
- Welcome guests promptly and courteously, creating a friendly first impression.
- Husker football home games are MANDATORY!
- Manage restaurant reservation systems to optimize seating arrangements and wait times.
- Escort guests to their tables, ensuring comfort and proper setup.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including resetting tables quickly for new guests.
- Assist servers by clearing and resetting tables efficiently during service hours.
- Support host staff with phone communication, handling reservation inquiries and guest questions using proper phone etiquette.
- Use restaurant table management systems to track seating and reservations accurately.
- Uphold food safety standards by adhering to sanitation protocols in all guest areas.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills with team members and guests to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide exceptional guest services by addressing needs promptly and professionally, fostering positive guest relations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a host/hostess or busser in a restaurant setting is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for hospitality is key!
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for handling reservations, seating counts, and POS transactions.
- Familiarity with restaurant reservation management systems and POS platforms such as SPOT ON is advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Effective communication skills, including phone etiquette and clear verbal interaction.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and sanitation standards in food service environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move comfortably for extended periods during shifts.
