LFA has a new position open in our downtown Indianapolis office as we continue to grow our presence in central Indiana. We are seeking an experienced, high-performing Civil Designer/CAD Technician to work closely with our Indianapolis engineering staff in preparing project plans for roadway, structural, and water resources projects using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of prior consulting experience and be familiar with INDOT design standards, standard details, and project support activities.
- Currently working as a Civil Designer or CAD Technician with experience in civil engineering design.
- Proficiency in Autodesk products, including AutoCAD and Civil3D.
- Experience supporting roadway, structural, and/or water resources design projects and contract document production.
- Strong CAD and design skills with an emphasis on speed, accuracy, and quality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Effective oral and written communication skills for interaction with internal staff, agencies, and clients.
- Familiarity with INDOT design standards and proper application of standard details is desired.
- Working knowledge of AutoLISP and/or ObjectARX for developing or modifying CAD automation tools, routines, or workflows a plus.
- Design, drafting, and preparation of roadway, structural, utility, and related construction plans using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
- Perform calculations addressing quantities, areas, grades, slopes, inverts, and other supporting data for project development.
- Prepare tables, schedules, bill of materials, and other required data to support roadway, structural, and utility design efforts.
- Plot and assemble plan sets and construction documents for agency and client submittals.
- Coordinate with project team members and departments.
- Support engineering staff using Autodesk design software and provide technical expertise based on experience level.
- Collaborate with and support design development efforts alongside staff from the South Bend office.
- Limited travel to assist with field investigations, reports, studies, and delivery of project submittals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Compensation is based on experience and demonstrated capabilities.
