Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Group Facilitator to lead therapeutic groups aimed at enhancing the emotional and psychological well-being of participants. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mental health and counseling, with the ability to create a safe and supportive environment for individuals to express themselves. This role requires excellent communication skills, empathy, and a passion for helping others through group dynamics.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate structured psychoeducational, process, and recovery-focused groups therapy sessions.
- Deliver curriculum-based content related to substance use recovery, relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, stress management, and mental health wellness.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive group environment that encourages participation and peer support.
- Monitor group dynamics and intervene appropriately to maintain therapeutic boundaries and productive engagement.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to support individualized treatment goals and continuity of care.
- Document group attendance, participation, progress, and relevant observations in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in identifying client needs, concerns, and barriers to treatment, communicating observations to the clinical team as appropriate.
- Support clients in developing healthy coping strategies, communication skills, and recovery-oriented behaviors.
- Maintain compliance with all confidentiality, ethical, and professional standards.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training opportunities.
Skills
- Strong group facilitation skills with the ability to engage clients in meaningful discussion and therapeutic activities.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, addiction recovery principles, relapse prevention, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Ability to establish rapport and maintain therapeutic relationships with diverse client populations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong assessment and observation skills, with the ability to recognize changes in client functioning and treatment needs.
- Ability to manage group dynamics effectively while maintaining a safe, supportive, and structured environment.
- Effective crisis intervention, de-escalation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accurate documentation practices.
- Cultural competency and sensitivity when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Required
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Addiction Studies, or a related behavioral health field.
- Experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders, mental health conditions, or co-occurring disorders.
- Knowledge of recovery principles, relapse prevention strategies, and behavioral health treatment practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and group facilitation skills.
- Ability to establish rapport and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
- Proficiency in documentation and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
