Build Your Career in Commercial & Residential Estimating
R1 Roofing & Exteriors is looking for a motivated Junior Estimator Intern who wants hands-on experience estimating roofing, siding, windows, stucco, and exterior restoration projects. This is a paid internship designed for students or early-career professionals interested in construction management, estimating, engineering, or project management.
You'll work directly with our Operations Manager and Estimating Team while learning real-world estimating practices used on commercial and residential projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform material takeoffs from construction plans and blueprints.
- Review architectural and structural drawings.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs for roofing, siding, windows, sheet metal, insulation, waterproofing, and related scopes.
- Assist in preparing project estimates and proposals.
- Verify measurements using digital takeoff software.
- Request pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Organize bid documents and maintain estimating records.
- Coordinate with project managers and sales staff.
- Learn commercial roofing systems including TPO, PVC, EPDM, metal roofing, and shingles.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience using takeoff software is required.
- Must be proficient with Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, Square Takeoff, or equivalent software.
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with numbers and measurements.
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Adobe PDF).
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or related field.
- Previous estimating or construction experience.
- Knowledge of roofing systems is a plus (training provided).
- Experience with JobNimbus or other CRM software is a plus.
