In-Office Assistant (1099 Contractor)

Position Overview
We are a small business seeking a dependable and organized Office Assistant to support daily office operations. This role is vital to keeping our business running smoothly and maintaining strong communication with our customers. The ideal candidate is attentive, organized, able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment during busy times of the year, while also managing slower periods productively, and cares about supporting and growing a small business.
This position requires someone who is a self-starter, quick learner, and takes initiative. You will often be the first point of contact for customers, so empathy, kindness, and professionalism are essential. Excessive tardiness or unplanned absences impact ongoing engagement in this position. We request to be informed of any time off needed as soon as one is aware of dates.
Key Responsibilities
Phone & Customer Communication
● Answer and document incoming calls promptly and professionally
● Return missed calls and complete follow-up calls
● Communicate with customers in a friendly, empathetic, and helpful manner
● Follow up on invoices and quotes
Administrative & Office Support
● Scan and organize checks
● Scan and organize contracts and related documents
● Accurately input and track expenses
General Office Support
● Maintain organized digital and physical records
● Running small errands
● Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Owner or Office Manager
● Assist with various office and administrative needs as they arise

Preferred (But Not Required)
● Previous office assistant, administrative, or customer service experience
● Experience handling phone calls and basic bookkeeping tasks
Independent Contractor (1099) Information
This role is classified as a 1099 independent contractor position, not an employee role. Contractors should be
aware of the following:
● You are responsible for your own taxes, including self-employment taxes
● No benefits (such as health insurance, paid time off, or retirement plans) are provided
● Payment will be made according to agreed-upon terms (hourly or per task)
● A 1099-NEC tax form will be issued for yearly tax reporting
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
