Duties
- Plan and develop balanced menus that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate dietary restrictions for children
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals with precision, ensuring food safety and quality standards are upheld at all times
- Handle food with care, demonstrating excellent knife skills and food handling techniques to optimize freshness and presentation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to strict sanitation protocols
- Assist with food portioning and serving during meal times, creating a welcoming dining atmosphere for children
- Collaborate with dietary staff to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences
- Support catering activities for special events or group activities involving children’s meals
Requirements
- Prior experience in dietary department roles or as a dietary aide, preferably within child care or similar settings
- Demonstrated culinary experience, including menu planning, food preparation, and cooking skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures
- Experience in food service environments such as restaurants or catering is highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork and children’s well-being
- This job involves standing for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting and climbing. Must be able to physically move through the center and classrooms.
- Ability to lift 55 pounds is required.
