Duties
- Prepare and submit Medicaid dental claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Review dental procedures and diagnoses codes such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) to ensure proper coding for reimbursement.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage details before claim submission to prevent denials.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by conducting medical collections efforts and resubmitting claims with necessary corrections.
- Maintain detailed records of medical billing activities, including claim status updates, payment postings, and correspondence with insurance providers.
- Ensure compliance with all Medicaid regulations, guidelines, and documentation requirements related to dental services.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to accurately document medical records and support billing accuracy.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing with a focus on Medicaid or dental insurance claims processing.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, DRG classifications, and ICD coding standards.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, EHR platforms, and medical records management.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology relevant to dental procedures and billing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to perform medical collections efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
- Prior experience working in a medical office environment is highly preferred.
- Ability to interpret insurance policies, billing guidelines, and regulatory compliance standards related to Medicaid.
