Position Summary
The Apprentice Helper supports all NSI departments while learning the skills necessary to become a professional installer. This position provides hands-on experience in insulation, lagging, decking, upholstery, equipment covers, and safety net installation while assisting experienced crews in the field.
No experience is required—we’re willing to train the right person.
Responsibilities
Field Support
- Assist installers with daily tasks.
- Load and unload tools and materials.
- Deliver materials to work locations.
- Stage materials for upcoming work.
- Assist with demolition and removal.
- Perform containment setup and protection of work areas.
- Remove debris and maintain clean workspaces.
- Assist with cleanup at the end of each shift.
- Learn proper use of hand and power tools.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Shop Responsibilities
- Organize warehouse and shop.
- Stock and inventory materials.
- Prepare job materials for upcoming projects.
- Clean and organize gang boxes.
- Maintain tools and equipment.
- Remove trash and scrap materials.
- Assist with loading company vehicles.

Qualifications
- Positive attitude

- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to work aboard ships and industrial facilities
- Willingness to learn multiple trades
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Willing to travel when required
Previous construction, shipyard, flooring, insulation, painting, carpentry, or industrial experience is a plus but not required.
