Join our vibrant summer camp team as a Summer Camp Assistant Group Supervisor! In this dynamic role, you will support the planning and execution of engaging activities for children and youth, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and fun environment. You will work closely with lead supervisors to supervise groups of campers, foster positive behavior, and promote personal growth through creative programming. Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising and managing groups of children during camp activities, ensuring safety and engagement at all times
- Support the implementation of daily schedules that include sports, arts, theater, outdoor play, and educational activities
- Maintain a safe environment by enforcing rules and behavior management strategies aligned with camp policies
- Provide first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any emergencies or incidents
- Foster positive relationships with children by encouraging participation, teamwork, and respectful communication
- Collaborate with team members to create inclusive experiences that accommodate children with diverse needs, including those requiring special education support
- Support counselors in maintaining classroom management techniques and promoting childhood development principles
Skills
- Strong classroom management skills to guide children’s behavior effectively and positively
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and emergency response protocols
- Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, tutoring, or early childhood education
- Ability to engage children through creative activities like theater, sports coaching, or arts and crafts
- Excellent communication skills for working with children, parents, and team members
- Understanding of childhood development stages and behavior management strategies
- Compassionate attitude with a passion for working with youth in a camp or childcare environment
