Job Summary
The Semi-Trailer Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining semi-trailers to ensure safe and reliable operation. This role performs preventive maintenance, DOT/FHWA inspections, and repairs to trailer structures, brake and suspension systems, electrical components, doors, flooring, and liftgates. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, welding and fabrication experience, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
Knowledge
- Perform DOT/FHWA inspections and preventive maintenance services.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, lighting, brake, suspension, axle, and structural systems.
- Repair or replace trailer components, including roofs, side skins, posts, rails, flooring, doors, and liftgates.
- Perform welding and light fabrication to support trailer repairs.
- Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on roll-up doors, swing doors, and liftgate systems.
- Maintain compliance with all company safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Support shop operations and collaborate with foremen and team members to ensure timely completion of repairs.
Qualifications
- High School or Equivalent
- Verified experience in semi-trailer maintenance/repair
- Regular attendance is a requirement
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must have own tools or ability to purchase tools
- Satisfactory drug screen, driving record, and background check

Physical Demands
- Requires a minimum of eight hours of standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of body mechanics/movements.
- Regularly required to lift and carry up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Frequently required to lift and carry up to fifty-five (55) pounds. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
- Must be able to work in an environment requiring the use of ladder, stairs, heights, platforms, and climbing in and out of trailers or working under trailers in tight spaces.
- Must have the ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools safely, work with compressed air safely, operate fork trucks safely, and utilize safety devices.
