Pantograph is training general models that start by watching internet-scale video and end up on robots. We think the path to capable robots runs through general intelligence rather than narrow, robot-specific skills. We're scaling simple methods across video games, real-world video, and our own fleet of affordable, durable robots.
We're looking for assembly technicians to help build that fleet in our San Francisco lab. This is a hands-on role where you'll assemble mechanical and electromechanical components for our custom-designed robot systems. You'll work closely with our engineering team as we improve how our robots are built, making the assembly process faster, more reliable, and easier to scale.
This starts as a part-time role. We're open to candidates interested in working anywhere from 10 to 30 hours per week, and we're very flexible about scheduling.
Responsibilities:
Assemble mechanical and electromechanical components by following detailed assembly instructions
Perform soldering, wiring, and other light electrical assembly
Use hand tools and light power tools to build high-quality assemblies
Inspect parts and finished robots for quality, identifying and flagging issues
Help maintain organized workspaces, tools, and inventory
Suggest improvements to assembly processes and documentation as you build
You might be a good fit if you:
Have experience building or repairing things by hand — electronics, bicycles, cars, furniture, robots, musical instruments, or similar
Are comfortable working with small, precision components
Have strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
Are able to follow technical drawings and assembly instructions
Have basic soldering skills (or are willing to learn quickly)
Are reliable, organized, and take pride in doing careful, high-quality work
We care much more about care, curiosity, and craftsmanship than any specific background. If you enjoy building things, take pride in doing careful work, and are excited about robotics, we'd love to hear from you, even if you've never worked as an assembly technician before.
