GENERAL PURPOSE: Under the direct supervision of a State Certified Operator and/or the Assistant Water/Wastewater Superintendent performs routine maintenance repairs and installation of water and wastewater facilities which include but are not limited to wells pump stations storage tanks chemical feed equipment water collection and transmission lines sewerage collection main lines service lines fire hydrants valves water meters lift stations manholes etc. Assists other operators in the operation of the production automated controls and systems. Assists in the maintenance and repair of the Municipal Golf Course irrigation and re-use lines. Participates in scheduled on-call duties within three (3) months of hire. Assists with the coordination and collection of all required compliance sampling. Adheres to all mandatory safety practices and programs (including OSHA Safety requirements). Is required to respond to emergencies during non-working hours weekends and Holidays and at times in adverse weather conditions. May be required to assist other Departments during emergencies as needed. Performs other related duties as required and assigned by the designated Lead Operator and/or Assistant Water/Wastewater Superintendent.
STARTING HOURLY PAY: $19.87 p/h
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or (GED) equivalent.
- Valid Commercial driver’s license (CDL) (state of residence) with Medical Examiners Certification. Must meet city’s insurability requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year experience in the field of construction, maintenance, water or wastewater.
Other Conditions:
- Must pass a background check.
Conditions of Employment:
Must become State certified as a Wastewater Operator Level I within eighteen (18) months of hire.
