ELEMASTER US is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hand Solder Technician to join our electronics manufacturing team.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with electronic assembly and soldering and must hold a valid IPC certification. This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong workmanship, and the ability to consistently produce high-quality solder joints and electronic assemblies according to established standards and work instructions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hand soldering of electronic components and assemblies according to work instructions, drawings, and applicable IPC standards.
- Inspect solder joints and electronic assemblies to ensure workmanship meets quality requirements.
- Identify soldering defects, component issues, and assembly discrepancies.
- Perform rework and touch-up of PCBs and electronic assemblies as required.
- Handle electronic components and PCBs using appropriate ESD procedures.
- Follow established manufacturing processes, procedures, and quality standards.
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, work instructions, BOMs, and component identification information.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe work area.
- Use soldering irons, microscopes, magnification equipment, and other hand tools safely and effectively.
- Perform visual inspections of completed work with a high level of accuracy.
- Document production and quality information as required.
- Communicate quality concerns or recurring defects to the appropriate supervisor or Quality team.
- Support continuous improvement activities within the production area.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.
- Work effectively with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other departments.
Required Qualifications
- Valid IPC certification required.
- Previous hands-on experience in electronic hand soldering.
- Experience working with PCBs and electronic components.
- Strong knowledge of soldering techniques and acceptable solder workmanship.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong visual inspection skills.
- Ability to identify defects and inconsistencies in electronic assemblies.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing procedures.
- Basic ability to read electronic assembly drawings and BOMs.
- Understanding of ESD handling procedures.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent quality and productivity.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electronics manufacturing or PCB assembly.
- Experience with IPC-A-610 standards.
- Experience with SMT and/or through-hole components.
- Experience performing PCB rework or repair.
- Experience using a microscope for electronic assembly inspection.
- Experience with AOI or visual inspection.
- Previous experience working in a Quality department.
- Basic knowledge of electronic components and manufacturing processes.
- Experience working in a high-mix or low-volume electronics manufacturing environment.
