LEAD TEACHER
Job Description
¨ Reports to Director or Program Supervisor/ Director
¨ Responsible for the management, planning and implementing of the daily activities of children in a cognitive environment with the goal of accomplishing a comprehensive child development program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.
¨ All duties are performed in accordance with academy policies and procedures and regulations of the Department of Social Services general licensing requirements.
¨ Treat each child with dignity and respect.
¨ Help each child become aware of his role as an integral member of the group.
¨ Prepare educational materials required for implementing the daily activity plan.
¨ Maintain an orderly physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development of children.
¨ Attend staff and parent meetings and contribute to the meetings as requested.
¨ Share information appropriately with other center staff members.
¨ Relate to parents the planning of activities and explain how the activity is designed to foster the growth and development of each child.
¨ Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.
¨ Follow all personnel policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
¨ Report all changes in children’s behavior or difficulties in classroom.
¨ Work with all staff and volunteers in a cooperative manner.
¨ Maintain punctuality and attendance.
¨ Assume responsibility for writing weekly activity and lesson plan.
¨ Assume responsibility for cleanliness of classroom and center.
¨ Provide and supervise activities that develop healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth in each child as well as the basics of what it means to be a Christian.
¨ Provide planning and execution of appropriate early childhood education experience with a wide variety of materials.
¨ Keep attendance of all children in classroom.
¨ Always keep open communication with parents and encourage parent participation in the classroom.
¨ Maintain records of children who come into the center with bruises, cuts, scratches, etc. as a means of protecting the center from liability.
¨ Other pertinent duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational Requirements
¨ BA or AA in Early Childhood Education or at least 12 units in child development and six months experience in a licensed childcare center or have a children’s center permit.
Qualifications
¨ Must be person of moral character willing to provide a loving and safe environment for children that provides for the needs of the total child through physical care, nurturing, and academic excellence.
¨ Must produce social security card, legal picture ID, and work visa as appropriate.
¨ Must show evidence of emotional maturity and stability and ability to seek supervision and use it constructively.
¨ Must submit fingerprint card along with proof of physical, TB clearance, transcripts, and references.
¨ Must pass background check.
¨ Must be fingerprinted.
¨ Good time management skills.
¨ Ability to communicate effectively.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
