Sales Manager – Extrusion Industry (Travel Required)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager with a strong background in the extrusion industry. This role is responsible for leading a team of 4 (2 outside sales representatives + 2 technical service specialists), developing new business, maintaining customer relationships, and driving revenue growth across a designated territory. The ideal candidate has a proven sales track record, strong technical knowledge, leadership experience, and is comfortable with frequent travel. This position also requires active involvement in technical discussions with customers and coordination with our parent company.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and mentor a team of 4 (2 outside sales representatives + 2 technical service specialists)
- Set team sales targets, monitor performance, and provide regular coaching and feedback
- Recruit, onboard, and develop sales and technical talent
- Allocate territories, accounts, and opportunities across the team
- Foster collaboration between sales and technical service teams
Sales & Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the extrusion market (individual + team)
- Maintain and grow relationships with key/existing customers (often strategic accounts)
- Conduct on-site visits, presentations, and product demonstrations (personal + team-led)
- Engage in technical discussions with customers to clarify requirements, applications, and feasibility
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and inside sales teams to ensure customer requirements are met
- Coordinate with our parent company in Austria on technical specifications, project requirements, and order details
- Review and approve quotes, proposals, and contracts before submission
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs
- Meet or exceed team sales targets and performance metrics
- Prepare accurate team sales forecasts and reports
Qualifications
- 3+ years of sales experience in the extrusion industry (plastic, aluminum, or related) plus 1–2 years of people management experience
- Strong understanding of extrusion processes, tooling, and applications
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a sales/technical team
- Ability to engage in technical conversations with customers and internal teams
- Excellent leadership, relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills
- Self-driven with strong organizational and time management abilities
- Willingness to travel regularly (regional or national as required)
Preferred
- Existing industry contacts or customer base
- Experience working with custom extrusion solutions
- Experience coordinating with international teams or suppliers
- Track record of building and scaling a sales team
