Overview
We are seeking experienced Structural Fitters / Shipfitters to join our dynamic fabrication and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting detailed blueprints and technical drawings, measuring and cutting metal materials, and assembling structural components with precision and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of complex projects in a fast-paced environment, ensuring all work meets quality specifications and industry standards. Duties
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine project requirements.
- Measure, mark, cut, and shape sheet metal and other metal materials using calipers, micrometers, plasma cutters, and power tools.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install structural components utilizing welding techniques such as FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and stick welding in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
- Use measuring instruments and shop math to ensure precise fit-up of parts during assembly.
- Operate cranes, machining equipment, and other heavy machinery safely to handle large or complex components.
- Follow safety protocols diligently while working on construction sites or in fabrication shops; maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while maintaining high quality standards in metal fabrication, ductwork, or shipbuilding tasks.
Qualifications
- Proven construction site experience with a strong background in metal fabrication or shipfitting.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting technical drawings accurately.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers, and welding equipment including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW.
- Experience operating cranes and machining equipment safely within a fabrication or construction environment.
- Knowledge of AWS welding standards along with basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced settings requiring strict safety adherence.
- Mechanical knowledge related to assembly processes, ductwork installation, plasma cutting, machining operations, and metal materials handling is highly desirable.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
