POSITION SUMMARY:
Develop educational programs and curriculum in support of all Center programs. Center programs include, but are not limited to, Discovery Camps, Preschool & Toddler classes, School Programs, and Gallery Programs. Must be able to teach classes, write curriculum and engage with our guests in our exhibit galleries. Participate in special events or after-hours programs as needed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Teach classes and programs with confident classroom management skills using positive language and a variety of teaching methods.
· Write curriculum for the Center's educational programs.
· Facilitate play and gallery programs in the Center’s exhibit galleries.
· Serve as first responder to minor and major accidents. Record, track and follow up on incidents and accidents, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· College degree in education or related field preferred.
· Minimum 1 year working with children
· Excellent organizational skills, conflict-resolution skills, oral and written communication skills.
· Team player who is comfortable working with children and their families, staff and volunteers.
· Ability to accept and adapt to change with ease.
· Ability to think and act quickly and logically.
· Demonstrated personal commitment to valuing life-long learning.
· Strong dedication to helping the Discovery Center fulfill its mission.
REQUIRED TO:
· Attend mandatory orientation and training sessions,
· Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate special events, exhibits and/or functions.
