Job Summary
Camp Somerset riding takes place at Maple's Way Equestrian, just down the road from us in Smithfield, Maine.
The Horseback Riding counselor is responsible for driving four to five campers at a time, assisting Thistle Ridge staff with instruction, and ensuring that Somerset health and safety protocols are being adhered to.
We seek independent thinkers who are self-starters looking for more than just a summer job but an actual seat at the table.
We believe that summer camp should be the most special time of year for children and it is our responsibility to make sure that every young girl feels empowered, encouraged, and inspired to be her very best self.
Our horseback riding days are already scheduled, so a complete summer schedule can be provided upon employment.
Typical Schedule
- Arrive at camp by 8:45 am (or earlier if you would like to have breakfast.
- 9:00 am - Depart with Group 1
- 10:15 am - Return with Group 1
- 11:30 am - Depart with Group 2
- 12:45 pm - Return with Group 2
- Lunch
- 1:30 pm - Depart with Group 3
- 2:45 pm - Return with Group 3
- 3:00 pm - Clean van and depart for the day
Qualifications and Skills
Qualifications: (Minimum Education and Experience)
- Experience in a recreational and instructional horseback riding setting preferred
- Ability to work flexible schedule and weekends.
- 21+ years old and able to drive a camp van.
- Experience in supervision.
