Job Summary: Promotes a healthy, safe, welcoming, and positive community living environment for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking. Ensures services and shelter operations are consistent with the shelter model of operations and accreditation standards. Provides operational direction and staff oversight in consultation with the Executive Director. Provide domestic and sexual violence coverage and services for clients, as required. Ensure survivor-centered, accessible, trauma-informed, and culturally competent services are provided.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee shelter operations to ensure compliance with core service and accreditation standards.
- Identify, develop, or revise systems, procedures, protocols, and forms to meet the program needs, and for staff to meet their job responsibilities.
- Monitor program occupancy, and ensure the facility provides a safe and healthy living and program environment, including monitoring conditions and implementing changes, as needed.
- Provide day-to-day supervision and coaching of shelter advocates, including scheduling to ensure adequate service coverage
- Act as an on-call back up for shelter staff
- Communicate service and agency information to staff, including information from meetings, and changes in procedures, protocols, and agency requirements.
- Assist in appropriate response and resolution of client complaints
- Orient new employees to job responsibilities and expectations, and provide training in program and agency policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Conduct paperwork reviews to ensure that staff documentation meets agency standards.
- Provide regular supervision to assigned staff, including monitoring sick time use, time off requests, assignment responsibilities, clarification of job expectations, monitoring job performance, staff compliance with agency requirements, completion of competency evaluations. Maintain documentation of supervision sessions.
- Provide direct domestic and sexual violence services as assigned, including intake/assessment, crisis intervention, safety planning, system advocacy, and other supportive services.
- Maintains awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understands one’s own responsibility of self-care.
- Develop and maintain a volunteer program, including outreach for potential volunteers, volunteer orientation, and assignment and supervision of volunteer services.
- Maintain timely service documentation. Accurately track client residency information, service hours and other statistics required for internal and external reporting.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching to access supplies or assist clients.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., moving donations, supplies, or small furniture).
- Occasional pushing/pulling carts or equipment.
- Ability to quickly navigate stairs and hallways during emergencies.
- Physical capacity to assist clients in evacuation if needed.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and shelter-related tools.
- Ability to interact safely with individuals in crisis, this may involve de-escalation and maintaining personal safety.
- Capacity to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, which may involve physical stamina.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
This position is primarily located in an open area office that is shared space with both clients and colleagues. The incumbent is faced with frequent interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis. The incumbent must also work with a wide variety of people of different backgrounds and abilities, including those with impacts of experiencing trauma.
