Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Operations Planning Manager to lead all aspects of our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for overseeing production, staffing, maintenance, shipping and receiving, quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a proven manufacturing leader who thrives on the shop floor, develops high-performing teams, and drives operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate workforce assignments to meet production schedules and customer shipment deadlines.
- Manage production, shipping, and maintenance activities across all shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations.
- Monitor plant performance and provide leadership with regular reports on production results, labor availability, job status, and operational changes.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, coach, and develop production personnel while addressing performance and disciplinary matters as needed.
- Maintain compliance with all MIOSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety policies.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure all employees receive ongoing equipment and safety training.
- Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with established production processes and quality standards.
- Identify, implement, and evaluate process improvements that enhance productivity, efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance activities are completed in a timely manner to maximize equipment uptime.
- Lead weekly production meetings to communicate schedules, priorities, and customer requirements.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience, including direct supervision of production employees.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Demonstrated career stability with a proven record of longevity, professional growth, and increasing responsibility.
- Strong leadership skills with high emotional intelligence and the ability to motivate teams.
- Hands-on shop floor leadership experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with strong follow-through.
- Proven ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
- Ability to prioritize and perform effectively in a fast-paced, changing manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASCM (APICS) Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification.
- ISM Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification.
- CAD experience.
