About the Role: We are seeking a motivated Property Accountant to join our team. This role is perfect for someone looking to grow their accounting career and gain exposure to various aspects of property accounting. You will report directly to the Accounting Manager and be responsible for preparing financial statements for a portfolio of properties, working with clients and auditors, and assisting with annual budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial reports and analyze variances.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, annual budgets, and audits.
- Record journal entries, perform bank reconciliations, and prepare account reconciliations.
- Manage property cash positions; monitor available funds and prioritize accounts payable disbursements to ensure critical invoices are paid on time while limiting aging of other outstanding payables.
- Review accounting and system reports for accuracy.
- Support Resident and Regional Managers.
- Assist with onboarding new properties into the accounting software.
- Collaborate with the controller on ad hoc projects.
What We're Looking For:
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize tasks.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of integrity and ethics.
- Minimum 2-year degree in accounting or finance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Property management or real estate accounting experience required.
- Yardi Voyager experience preferred.
- Experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties is a strong differentiator.
Compensation: $55,000-$65,000 a year depending on experience
