ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Quality Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of healthcare quality data in accordance with HEDIS standards. They also play a crucial role in supporting record retrieval for clinical diagnoses confirmation to support audit processes. This position provides essential support to the healthcare organization's many quality improvement initiatives by assisting in data collection, abstraction, reporting tasks, and participating in training as indicated.
This is a remote position with required travel to the Little Rock, AR corporate office 2-3 days each quarter.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Data Abstraction: Review and abstract medical records to extract relevant clinical data in accordance with HEDIS specifications and guidelines.
2. Data Validation: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of collected data by conducting quality checks.
3. Record Retrieval: Collaborate with providers and healthcare facilities to retrieve medical records and necessary documentation for HEDIS measurements and diagnoses validation.
4. Data Entry: Accurately enter and maintain HEDIS-related data in electronic systems or databases.
5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with HEDIS standards, regulations, and reporting timelines.
6. Education and Training: Assist with development of training related to HEDIS and quality data collection requirements and best practices when needed. Participate in all required trainings. Maintains working knowledge of anticipated and expected changes to HEDIS measures.
7. Quality Improvement: Collaborate with the quality improvement team to identify areas of improvement based on HEDIS performance data.
8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all HEDIS data abstraction and reporting activities, including any issues or discrepancies. Maintain detailed documentation including meeting minutes, action items, and issue logs.
9. Communication: Communicate regularly with internal teams, external healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to facilitate the HEDIS data collection process.
10. Other: Performs other duties assigned per the HEDIS Project Manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in healthcare administration, medical assistant, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Knowledge of HEDIS measures and guidelines.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in data management tools and software.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position may require occasional travel to healthcare facilities for record retrieval.
- Work may be performed in an office setting, remotely, or hybrid, depending on the organizations policies.
