Position Overview
We are seeking eight (8) Dental Assistants to join the team at the Orlando VA Medical Center, providing exceptional support to General Dentists while serving our nation's Veterans. This is an onsite opportunity in a collaborative clinical environment where Dental Assistants play a vital role in delivering high-quality dental care. Candidates should be organized, patient-focused, and committed to providing outstanding clinical support.
Responsibilities
- Assist General Dentists during a variety of dental procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and equipment for patient care.
- Obtain and document patient medical and dental histories.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols in accordance with OSHA and VA standards.
- Take dental radiographs as permitted by state regulations and facility requirements.
- Provide chairside assistance during examinations and procedures.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with scheduling and administrative duties as needed.
- Ensure operatories are stocked and equipment is functioning properly.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program or equivalent experience, as required by VA standards.
- Current certification or registration, if required by state regulations.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong organizational, communication, and patient care skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Previous dental assisting experience is preferred but qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply.
