American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Neuro night shift position in Nashville, TN, requiring a TN or compact RN license and at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

Located on the 3rd Floor Medical Surgical/Neuro unit of an acute care hospital in Nashville, TN
-
20-bed unit with a 6:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
-
Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
-
Two weekends (4 shifts) required per 4-week schedule

Tech support available on both day and night shifts; unit secretary available 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCAs, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology

Charting is done in Meditech

Contract travelers are first to float, with rotation applied when multiple contract staff are scheduled

13-week assignment

Active RN license — Tennessee or compact license required

Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required

Proficiency in IV starts, basic wound care, surgical drain maintenance, nasogastric tube management, and chest tube care

Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced environment

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required
-
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

The facility is an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible

Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) are required
-
Bedside shift report is expected, with an emphasis on patient- and family-centered care and individualized plan of care communication
