American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with TX or compact license for a Day shift position requiring at least 2 years of experience and prior travel experience.

Work in the Medical Surgical unit (2W) of a hospital setting
-
Patient ratio of 1:5
-
Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
-
4-week schedule requiring availability for 4 of 8 scheduled weekend shifts (Sat/Sun for day shift)

Floating required to 3W and other units as needed
-
Charting system experience required (any EMR)
-
Active TX or compact RN license required, verified through Nursys
-
Current BLS certification required (AHA)
-
ACLS, PALS, and CPI certifications preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
-
Prior travel nursing experience required
-
Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
-
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line management
-
Experience managing GI conditions including bowel obstruction and ostomy care
-
Experience with renal failure and continuous bladder irrigation preferred
-
Experience with neurological conditions including CVA and substance withdrawal
-
Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia management preferred
-
Experience with wound care and wound vac management
-
Experience in MS/Tele, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and thyroidectomy care preferred
-
Provide direct patient care to a Med/Surg population including post-surgical, orthopedic, cardiovascular, and endocrine cases

Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed

Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for positive results
-
Must reside within 50 miles of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted for this role

Willing to work through the holiday season, with staff working 2 of 3 major holidays if remaining onsite through that period, or working Thanksgiving if not
-
Must work 3 of 5 winter holidays

Located in Kerrville, Texas, known as Texas Wine Country, approximately 1 hour from San Antonio

RTO requests should be kept to a minimum and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, with contract length adjusted accordingly
