Fire Alarm Sales: New Construction & Major Projects
Redwood City Alarms, Inc. | Bay Area | Full-time | Uncapped commission
Read this if you close the big new-construction jobs and want a company that can actually deliver them.
Every market has a few salespeople who own the room when a developer, GC, or building owner decides who gets the fire alarm scope on a major project. If that's you, and you already know this industry cold, let's talk.
Redwood City Alarms designs, installs, inspects, and services fire alarm and life safety systems across San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties. As an authorized Siemens dealer, alongside Potter and Kidde, we can spec and win the big jobs: high-rises, institutional buildings, and large commercial projects that run on enterprise systems. We don't win by being the cheapest bid. We win because owners and builders trust us to get it done right, pass inspection, and hit their occupancy date, and they will pay for that certainty. Your job is to sell that certainty and close it.
Why the right person wants this seat
- Uncapped, and built around you. This is a base salary plus uncapped commission on the work you close. Tell us what you want to earn and how you'll get there, and we'll structure a plan designed to pay you past it. No ceiling.
- Siemens opens the big doors. As an authorized Siemens dealer, you can compete for high-rise and institutional projects most local shops can't touch. Bigger jobs, bigger commissions.
- We deliver what you sell. Our design and ops team makes your word good, so you are never apologizing for a job that slipped. You sell with confidence because we back it.
- Sell on value, not price. If you are tired of being told to cut the number to win, you will breathe easier here. We compete on certainty and trust.
What you'll do
- Bring your relationships with developers, general contractors, building owners, facility directors, and architects to bear on new construction and major renovation projects.
- Find jobs early, read the plans and specs, scope them right, and prepare accurate quotes.
- Present proposals and close them, guiding clients from bid to signed agreement.
- Work closely with our design and ops team so every quote is scoped correctly and can be delivered as promised.
- Represent Redwood City Alarms at the table where the big projects get decided.
Who thrives here
You already know this industry cold, and you carry yourself like the professional you are. You bet on yourself and would rather be paid on what you produce than what you are guaranteed. People trust you fast, and you keep that trust by being direct, clear, and kind. You sweat the details on a big-dollar quote because you know what a mistake costs. You want to sell for a company that can actually deliver the work you win.
What you bring
- At least four years selling fire alarm or life safety systems into new construction. This is a seat for a proven professional, not an entry point. We will train you on our culture and our procedures, not on the industry.
- Deep familiarity with fire and life safety code (including NFPA 72), reading construction plans and specifications, and estimating and quoting new-construction systems.
- Established relationships with developers, general contractors, building owners, and architects in the local market.
- Attention to detail. On these projects there is a lot of money to make or lose on a single quote, and you get it right.
- Straight, clear communication, written and verbal. It is the single most important tool you will use here.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license to reach client sites across SF, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties.
Compensation & benefits
- Base salary plus uncapped commission on the work you close: open-ended and built around your production. Tell us the number you are after and we will build the plan to beat it.
- Health and dental insurance offered. We contribute up to $1,200/month toward your combined health and dental coverage for you and your family. You cover any difference above that.
Where you'll work
Based out of our Redwood City office, with time in the field visiting clients and projects across the Bay Area. This is a high-stakes, high-dollar role, so you will work closely with the team in your first stretch. Once you are ramped and producing, there is room to work remotely part of the week. That flexibility is earned, not day one.
There's a bigger why here. We're working to give $1,000,000 back to our humanity by 2030. We want people who'll help us get there, building something that pays well and means something.
How to apply
Email your resume to Jazmin ([email protected]) and CC Chris ([email protected]), Gianmarkho ([email protected]), and Aiza ([email protected]). Use the subject line: "[Your Name] - New Construction Sales Application."
Along with your resume, send a short video, no more than three minutes, answering these four questions:
1. Tell us about a time you deliberately lost a sale by telling a customer the truth. What happened, and what did you learn?
2. Tell us about the biggest or toughest new-construction job you won. Who were you up against, and how did you win it?
3. What do you want to earn in your first year, year three, and year five? What's your plan to get there?
4. Pretend we're the developer you most want to win. In under a minute, sell us on you.
A phone video is perfect! We care about what you say and how you say it, not production value.
We're a W-2 employer, and full compensation terms are set out in a written commission agreement. No surprises.
