Medical Assistant – Signature Orthopedics (PM&R)
Position Summary:
This position performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a matter that places emphasis on quality of care and customer service. The medical assistant maintains professional relationships with patients and their representatives and with medical staff while upholding clinic guidelines and maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
· Assist physicians in providing comprehensive patient care within a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) practice, including patient intake, medical history collection, and clinical documentation.
· Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while ensuring comfort, safety, and adherence to clinical protocols.
· Operate and assist with fluoroscopic C-Arm imaging during interventional pain management and PM&R procedures, maintaining radiation safety standards.
· Set up and maintain procedure rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and sterile instruments are available and functioning properly.
· Monitor patient vital signs and assist physicians with injections, nerve blocks, and other outpatient procedures.
· Coordinate patient scheduling, prior authorizations, referrals, and follow-up care to ensure continuity of treatment.
· Accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and procedure details within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
· Educate patients regarding procedures, medications, post-treatment instructions, and rehabilitation plans.
· Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and clinic safety policies.
· Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and administrative staff to deliver efficient, high-quality patient care.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
· High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Preferred:
· Prior MA experience
· Experience assisting with fluoroscopy-guided procedures utilizing C-Arm technology in a PM&R, pain management, orthopedic, or spine specialty setting.
· Medical assistant certification (if applicable)
· Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
· Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
· Basic Knowledge of physician office operations and Orthopedic medical terminology.
· Proficient in any EMR system.
