Overview
Urban Adventures is now accepting applications for the Assistant General Manager (AGM) position at our VIDA Fitness Logan Circle location, 1517 15th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in gym or fitness management and demonstrate strengths in people management, positive team engagement, customer service, facilities management, multitasking, attention to detail, and effective communication across various environments. Candidates should be highly organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, people-centric environment.
Success in this role requires strong collaboration and the ability to both contribute to and lead a team. The AGM plays a key role in multi-department culture-building, scheduling, and accountability, while delegating responsibilities to support a high-performing, service-driven team. A proactive mindset, strong decision-making, and the ability to operate independently are essential. A high degree of reliability and consistent in-club presence are also critical to success in this role.
We are also open to considering candidates with less direct management experience for a Junior Assistant General Manager (Junior AGM) opportunity. Ideal candidates for this path will demonstrate:
- Sales experience
- Experience supporting or managing people
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Coachability and a clear desire to learn, grow, and develop
Preferred availability includes weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as weekends.
The salary range for this position is $50,000–$60,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Junior AGM compensation will be aligned with experience and scope of the role.
Overview of Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily club operations, ensuring seamless service delivery and operational excellence across all departments.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance member engagement, retention, and overall business growth.
- Oversee team management, including hiring, training, coaching, and developing staff to foster a motivated and high-performing workforce.
- Drive business development initiatives by identifying new opportunities for membership growth and service expansion.
- Lead project management efforts related to facility improvements, operational initiatives, or new program launches while ensuring adherence to lean management principles.
- Cultivate a positive club culture by promoting leadership development, supervising team members effectively, and encouraging teamwork.
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in a fast-paced environment with a focus on operational management, interdepartmental collaboration, and team leadership.
- Strong proficiency in performance tracking and analysis to drive and support strategic decisions.
- Demonstrated success in team management with the ability to develop talent and foster leadership within the organization.
- Experience implementing process improvements using lean management principles to optimize workflows and reduce waste.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of motivating teams, building organizational culture, managing projects, and executing operational strategies effectively.
- Prior experience in sales or customer service roles within the fitness or hospitality industry is highly desirable.
