Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor residents' health status by taking vital signs, observing patient behavior, and reporting changes in condition in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed care plans and document all medication administration activities meticulously.
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition management while ensuring safety protocols are maintained.
- Provide companionship and emotional support tailored to individual needs, including experience working with persons with autism, dementia, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control standards.
- Assist with transportation for medical appointments or community outings while ensuring resident safety at all times.
- Utilize manual handling techniques and patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safe mobility assistance for residents requiring heavy lifting or specialized support.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient care practices including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and hospice support.
- Familiarity with care plans development and implementation tailored to individual needs.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities—including intellectual disabilities—and supporting their participation in community activities.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance and medication administration is preferred.
- Proven ability to handle manual handling tasks safely while maintaining resident dignity and comfort.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, team members, and healthcare professionals.

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
