Schedule: Full-time and part-time positions available. Applicants must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
Position Summary
Solstice Kitchen + Cocktails is seeking dependable, energetic, and team-oriented Bussers to support restaurant operations and help provide an exceptional dining experience. Bussers are responsible for maintaining clean and properly set tables, assisting servers, clearing dishes, restocking service areas, and keeping the dining room clean, organized, and ready for guests.
The ideal candidate works with urgency, notices what needs to be done without waiting to be asked, and understands that hospitality is a team effort. This position plays an essential role in the appearance, efficiency, and overall success of the restaurant.
Essential Responsibilities
- Greet and acknowledge guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Clear used plates, glassware, silverware, and other items from tables throughout the dining experience.
- Clean, sanitize, and reset tables promptly according to restaurant presentation standards.
- Ensure each table is properly set with folded napkins, silverware, glassware, and any required service items.
- Assist servers with water service, table maintenance, pre-bussing, and other guest needs.
- Practice “Full Hands In, Full Hands Out” by bringing needed items into the dining room and removing used items on every trip.
- Maintain clean and fully stocked server stations with silverware, glassware, napkins, ice, trays, and other necessary supplies.
- Transport dirty dishes and glassware safely to the appropriate dishwashing areas.
- Assist with delivering food, beverages, condiments, and other items when requested.
- Sweep spills, remove trash, and address cleanliness concerns immediately.
- Keep dining areas, floors, hallways, service stations, patios, and guest-facing areas clean and organized.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including moving tables and chairs, sweeping, mopping, restocking, and completing assigned side work.
- Clean sections thoroughly from window to wall rather than sweeping or mopping around furniture.
- Return tables, chairs, and other furniture to their proper positions after cleaning.
- Communicate guest requests, spills, broken items, shortages, and maintenance concerns to a server or manager promptly.
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, workplace-safety, and hotel policies.
- Work collaboratively with servers, hosts, bartenders, food runners, kitchen staff, and management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer-service experience is preferred but not required.
- Friendly, respectful, and professional attitude.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to move with urgency while maintaining safety and attention to detail.
- Strong awareness of dining-room cleanliness and guest needs.
- Ability to follow instructions and restaurant service standards.
- Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to carry bus tubs, trays, dishes, glassware, and restaurant supplies safely.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and move between indoor and outdoor areas.
- Ability to safely move tables and chairs as part of opening, closing, and cleaning responsibilities.
