Summary of Position:
We are looking to hire a certified pharmacy technician to be responsible for handling customer transactions and inventory at our pharmacy. You will be dispensing both prescription and over the counter medication to customers. You will also be responsible for recording and verifying patient information while maintaining confidentiality pertaining to PHI (Patient Health Information) by following HIPPA guidelines
Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist on duty, this position is responsible for timely and accurate interpretation and processing of prescriptions presented by patients; assures the pharmacy supplies are stocked; maintains organization and cleanliness of workstation; and remains compliance with state/federal regulations.
To be a successful candidate, you must display excellent communication skills and an affinity for great customer service. You must be comfortable with working in a fast-paced work environment.

· Pharmacy technician licensure in the state you are working in
· Effective computer and keyboarding skills
· Working knowledge of pharmacy information systems
· Strong communication skills, both written and oral
· Strong prioritization skills and an ability to make decisions independently and effectively
· Able to operate equipment such as computers, scan guns, tablet counters, and cash registers
Experience: At least one year of retail pharmacy experience. FQHC experience preferred.
Additional skills required: Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Have excellent organizational skills.
Additional skills preferred: Familiarity with pharmacy software programs necessary to execute daily tasks. Prior FQHC or public health experience. Spanish speaking.
Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate required
Certification(s) preferred: National Certification preferred from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB); Pharmacy technician registration with North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP)
Key Responsibilities
- Obtaining information to help fill prescriptions.
- Counting medications and measuring out amounts to ensure customers get exactly what has been prescribed by their doctors.
- Package prescriptions for customers, ensuring they are labeled correctly with dosage information.
- Process retail transactions and handle money.
- Process insurance claims as part of filling a prescription.
- Understand and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform accurate cash management/transaction procedures or refer customers appropriately.
- Participate in pharmacy QI initiative.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Accepting written prescriptions or refill requests from patients and evaluating information for completeness and accuracy.
- Recording medical histories while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Delivering quality customer service to patients, responding to inquiries, questions, or requests, and referring them to the pharmacist for medical information.
- Verifying the accuracy of patient information.
- Performing inventory audits and purchasing supplies and medication.
