Scrape the Plate Catering is looking for a dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Dishwasher & Catering Equipment Support team member.
This is an important behind-the-scenes position that helps us keep our catering operation clean, organized, and ready for the next event. Much of the work takes place after our event days, cleaning and preparing the equipment, china, and flatware that make our events possible.
What You'll Do
- Thoroughly wash, sanitize, and disinfect dishes, flatware, Cambros, chafers, serving pieces, and other catering equipment
- Properly clean, dry, and store equipment so it is ready for future events
- Polish and organize flatware
- Count, organize, and track flatware inventory
- Carefully clean, count, and track our vintage china when it is used for events
- Inspect equipment, china, and flatware for cleanliness and condition
- Maintain an organized and sanitary work area
- Assist with general kitchen and catering equipment cleanup as needed
- Work efficiently and independently while maintaining Scrape the Plate's standards for cleanliness and organization
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and dependable — showing up when scheduled is essential
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Comfortable working independently
- Willing to do physical, hands-on work
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift and move catering equipment
- Careful when handling vintage china, glassware, and specialty items
- Efficient and able to stay focused on repetitive tasks
- A team player with a positive attitude
Previous restaurant, catering, dishwashing, or kitchen experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person.
Schedule & Hours
This is a part-time position, with hours varying based on our catering schedule.
- Typically 15–20 hours per week
- A significant portion of the work occurs on Sundays and Mondays
- During busy seasons and holidays, hours may increase to approximately 30 hours per week
- Schedule will vary depending on our event calendar and business volume
Compensation
Starting at $17.50/hour
An Opportunity for Additional Hours
For someone interested in additional hours, there are opportunities to combine this position with either or both of the following roles:
Facility Cleaning — approximately 2–3 additional hours per week
Weekly cleaning of our office, tasting room, bathrooms, facility floors, and waste/recycling areas. This work can generally be completed in the evening. Occasional deep kitchen cleaning is also available for those interested.
Catering Rentals & Event Support — approximately 4–5 additional hours per week
Picking up and returning rental equipment, linens, cakes, and other event-related items. This typically involves Friday pickups and Monday returns, with occasional weekday pickups or returns. Because of our rental agencies' hours, this work must be completed between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The additional positions are not required and can be filled separately. We're simply offering the opportunity for someone who is interested in building a larger part-time schedule and becoming an even more integral part of our team.
