The Personnel Consulting Group has partnered with a high-growth construction company in Baton Rouge, LA, to identify a dependable Accounts Payable Specialist. Joining an expanding team, this on-site professional will take ownership of the full-cycle invoice-to-payment process, secure accurate and timely distributions, interact with vendors, and support broader corporate accounting operations. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Invoice Management: Examine, validate, and execute the processing of vendor invoices and employee expense reports.
- Three-Way Matching: Reconcile incoming accounts payable invoices against corresponding purchase orders and operational receiving documentation.
- Payment Processing: Organize, schedule, and execute electronic fund transfers (EFT/ACH), wire payments, and check runs.
- Account Reconciliation: Audit accounts payable ledgers regularly, identify variances, and proactively resolve billing discrepancies.
- Tax & Compliance: Oversee the compilation and filing of annual 1099 statements and ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory guidelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate closely with procurement, project management, and field operations to streamline invoice approvals and resolve purchasing issues.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field is preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years of dedicated accounts payable experience, ideally within the construction, industrial, or project-based sector.
- Adaptability: Proven capability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced commercial environment, both autonomously and as a collaborative team player.
- Technical Skills: Sound comprehension of foundational accounting principles, experience utilizing corporate accounting/ERP systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Core Competencies: Attention to structural detail, strong organizational habits, robust problem-solving capabilities, and professional verbal/written communication skills.
- Screening: Must be able to successfully clear standard pre-employment screening, including a background check and drug screen.
