The Internal Sales Support Team is responsible for providing effective sales support to our firm partnerships, advisors, and wholesalers within the Retirement Division across the U.S. This support includes taking inbound sales calls and making outbound sales calls to financial advisors to 1) assist them in understanding our retirement income solutions for their customers, or 2) prospect within assigned geographical territories to generate appointments with targeted advisors. The outlined support this team provides assists in the overall sales production achieved within individual territories, channels, and the division as a whole.
This is an entry-level role within the sales organization providing support services to sales territories focused on increasing wholesaler activity, sales production, and the wholesaler’s ability to devote more time to client and case development. This position requires an individual that is a self-starter, strong attention to detail, professional communication skills, hard work ethic, and a competitive drive to succeed.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Clearly convey and uphold Protective’s mission and value proposition to advisors.
- Implement marketing sales campaigns at the territory level to secure appointments for external wholesalers.
- Efficiently fulfill advisor requests for product illustrations and marketing materials with accuracy.
- Serve as a product expert, providing comprehensive education on product features and benefits.
- Conduct proactive daily sales calls with new and existing representatives to generate appointments for external partners.
- Maintain and document advisor profile information and sales activities using Protective databases.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and individual check-ins to track performance.
- Apply sales techniques to schedule and confirm various types of meetings, including individual, phone, group, and seminars.
- Work with wholesaling teams to understand territory geography, zones, and routes for effective scheduling.
- Assist with follow-up procedures after wholesaler meetings and manage routine correspondence such as thank you notes and birthday notes.
- Ensure advisor data and call notes are accurately and promptly recorded in the CRM system.
- Assist in desk wide initiatives including marketing lead follow-up, drive conference attendance, and lead follow-up generated by both Protective and firm partner sponsored events.
Qualifications & Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- A Bachelor’s degree or relevant sales/industry experience is preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Highly adaptable and flexible to accommodate business needs.
- Strong organizational abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Consistently reliable and dependable for key stakeholders and partners.
- Demonstrates high enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
Protective’s targeted compensation for this position is $50k. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees. This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
