Scope of Work
The Field Engineer will provide onsite Smart Hands support while working remotely with Vodafone engineers through a Microsoft Teams bridge.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform Wi-Fi refresh activities at a retail location
- Install, replace, or reposition wireless access points and related equipment
- Move or reconnect network circuits and cables as directed
- Perform basic cabling, labeling, cable management, and connectivity testing
- Take clear before, during, and after-work photographs
- Confirm, update, or draw the site floorplan as required
- Follow the provided runbook, cable-management specifications, and testing plan
- Provide live updates to the remote engineering team
- Remain connected to the Microsoft Teams bridge during the activity
- Obtain remote approval before completing the assignment and leaving the site
The engineer must not begin any technical work until connected to the Microsoft Teams bridge and instructed by the Vodafone engineer.
Required Tools and Materials
Candidates must have access to the following:
- Step ladder or extension ladder suitable for work above 9 feet
- Lift access where required for the Naples and Minneola locations
- Label maker with sufficient tape (mandatory)
- Two 6-foot CAT6 patch cables
- Laptop with Microsoft Teams installed
- Mobile phone with Microsoft Teams installed
- Basic network and cabling toolkit
- Cable tester
- Screwdriver set
- Cable ties or Velcro straps
- Mobile data or reliable internet access
- Personal protective equipment suitable for ladder work
Travel costs and ladder rental may be reimbursed with prior approval and supporting receipts.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience with Wi-Fi access point installation or replacement
- Basic networking and structured-cabling experience
- Experience providing onsite Smart Hands support
- Comfortable working safely at heights of 9 feet or above
- Ability to follow remote technical instructions
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to provide clear photos and progress updates
- Professional appearance and conduct
- Reliable transportation to the selected site
- Must arrive onsite on time and remain available until remote checkout approval
