Position Overview
SSLLC is seeking an experienced Senior Plumbing Estimator / Bid Engineer who can independently review construction documents, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, and develop accurate, competitive plumbing estimates for multifamily, hospitality, and senior living projects.
This role owns the number — scope completeness, pricing accuracy, and bid assumptions — while building trust during the bid process through clarity and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural and engineering drawings and specifications
- Perform detailed plumbing quantity takeoffs
- Develop accurate labor, material, and equipment pricing
- Establish unit pricing based on productivity and market conditions
- Ensure complete scope coverage and identify gaps or risk
- Level supplier and subcontractor pricing to confirm intent
- Identify constructability and execution risks prior to award
- Coordinate with operations, purchasing, and field leadership during bid reviews
- Participate in pre-award meetings as needed
- Support post-award turnover to ensure estimating intent aligns with execution
Desired Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of plumbing estimating experience
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods
- Experience estimating large-scale multifamily plumbing projects preferred
- Ability to independently own estimates from plans to final number
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and deadline driven
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software:
- STACK, OST, PlanSwift, Bluebeam
- Excel-based pricing models
- ClickUp or similar project management tools
Education & Certifications (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (preferred)
- OSHA-30, DBIA, CCM, PMP, PMI (preferred)
