Title: Bartender, BOP STOP
Classification: Part-time, as needed. Pay: $6/hr, plus tips. Shifts vary depending on needs, typically starting at about 5:30-6:30 pm on nights of shows. Employees may work 2-4 shifts per month, for approximately 8-20 hours per month. The employee must have a flexible schedule and be able to work nights and weekends. Working during shows is a priority, and an individual shift for a show lasts five hours on average.
Primary Purpose:
The Bartender supports the operations at Bop Stop- the live music venue of The Music Settlement by assisting customers, as well as the Director and Assistant Director and coworkers at Bop Stop during regular operations and special events.
Reports to: Director, BOP STOP
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Assist with maintaining liquor, wine, beer, and general bar inventory. Assist with ordering when necessary.
As a member of the TMS staff, the individual must encourage a respectful, healthy, and productive work environment for all employees, volunteers, and customers.
Educational Requirements:
High School diploma or GED. Familiarity with bartending profession and competencies described herein. Preferred: Interest in music, familiarity with Jazz
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years old to be legal to serve alcohol in Ohio.
Essential Functions – Physical Requirements:
Stamina: ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces for length of shift.
Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver items up to 30-50 pounds, including cases of beer, bottles, ice buckets, etc.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and work in confined/crowded space behind the bar.
Ability to use both hands to do constant, repetitive movements such as gripping bottles, drinks, tools, cocktails, etc.
Ability to hear and see, to meet requirements such as reading tickets, devices such as phones, iPad, ordering /POS system, hearing customers to take orders in loud bar/music venue, to take orders and communicate with customers and others.
